Panasonic has announced that it will release the new SL-50C direct-drive turntable from its Technics brand in late October 2025. It will be sold exclusively through the company’s online store, with a price of ¥99,000 (tax included).

Inheriting Technics’ Design Philosophy

Although it is an entry-level model, the SL-50C strongly inherits the turntable design philosophy that Technics has cultivated over many years. It employs the brand’s iconic ‘coreless direct-drive motor’ to achieve stable rotational accuracy and powerful torque. You can enjoy the accurate, high S/N sound that is unique to analog records.

All-in-One Design for Immediate Enjoyment

This unit comes standard with a universal S-shaped tonearm, and the cartridge is pre-mounted with the well-regarded ‘2M RED’ MM cartridge from Ortofon. It also has a built-in phono equalizer, so it can be connected directly to an amplifier that does not have a Phono input. You can immerse yourself in the world of analog records as soon as you purchase it.

The Appeal of Analog for the Younger Generation

In recent years, as the ways of enjoying music have diversified, interest in analog records has been growing, especially among the younger generation. The SL-50C is a strategic model aimed at these new analog fans, with the goal of allowing them to easily experience Technics’ uncompromising sound quality.

Key Features

  • ‘Coreless direct-drive motor’ that inherits Technics’ design philosophy
  • Universal S-shaped tonearm
  • Comes standard with an Ortofon 2M RED cartridge
  • Built-in phono equalizer

The SL-50C is likely to gain support from a wide range of users, both as an introductory machine for analog audio and as an easy-to-use player for a second system.
