The Dutch design company Metaxas & Sins, known for its high-end “audio sculptures” that blur the line between technology and art, has unveiled the preliminary design for a new turntable, the ‘Roulette,’ with the extremely unique concept of also functioning as a professional roulette wheel.
An Art Piece Beyond Audio Equipment
The products, handcrafted by founder Kostas Metaxas and his sons, have always attracted attention for their artistic design. The ‘Roulette’ turntable strongly reflects this philosophy and is machined from a solid block of aircraft-grade aluminum or titanium.
Key Features
- Unique Design: A sculptural design with a futuristic yet somewhat retro atmosphere.
- High-Quality Materials: Lavish use of the highest quality materials, such as aircraft-grade aluminum and titanium.
- Precision Motor: A belt-driven Swiss Maxon motor. Voltage control ensures extremely accurate and stable rotation.
- High-Performance Tonearm: Can be equipped with a high-performance tonearm with a pure sapphire tube and jewel-like bearings.
The company’s previously announced ‘Phonographic Perambulator’ turntable was priced at around $44,000, and the ‘Roulette’ is expected to be priced similarly or even higher.
The Metaxas & Sins ‘Roulette’ is not just a piece of audio equipment, but the ultimate luxury item, aiming to satisfy the joy of ownership and the pleasure of listening at the highest level.
