On December 11, 2025, Bang & Olufsen, headquartered in Struer, Denmark, announced the “Beolab 90 Phantom Edition” and “Beolab 90 Mirage Edition” as special limited speakers celebrating the company’s centenary. Based on the flagship Beolab 90, these editions feature artistic finishes crafted with the masterful techniques of Bang & Olufsen Atelier.
Second and Third in the Centenary Series
The two newly announced models are part of a five-piece limited centenary series for Beolab 90. Following the previously announced “Titan Edition,” Bang & Olufsen presents these editions under the concept of “a world where sound becomes sculpture and color becomes emotion.”
Beolab 90 Phantom Edition — Monochrome Motorsport Aesthetics
The Phantom Edition pursues dramatic monochrome expression and technical refinement.
Design Features
- Material Excellence: Semi-transparent black PVD metal mesh reveals the speaker’s internal architecture, creating a holographic effect that changes expression with viewing angle
- Carbon Fiber Accents: Face mask, base panel, and shoulder plates feature carbon fiber, expressing lightweight yet high-strength aesthetics inspired by motorsport
The carbon fiber panels undergo hand-laminated layering through pure craftsmanship. Bang & Olufsen positions this as “a bold statement for collectors who seek purity in both design and emotion—primal yet futuristic.”
Beolab 90 Mirage Edition — A Celebration of Color
In contrast to the Phantom Edition, the Mirage Edition celebrates color. This model represents the pinnacle of Bang & Olufsen’s anodization and surface treatment technologies.
Design Features
- Gradient Aluminum: Five precision-machined aluminum parts per unit undergo proprietary gradient anodization, combined with ripple textures expressing sound waves
- Craftsmanship: From hand-polishing by master artisans to gradient anodization in Bang & Olufsen’s dedicated laboratory, each piece becomes a crescendo of color celebrating individuality
Bang & Olufsen describes it as “a visual symphony unlike any other speaker,” designed to transform any space into a gallery of sound and color.
Core Beolab 90 Performance
Both limited editions inherit the exceptional acoustic performance of the Beolab 90, first released in 2015.
- 18 Dedicated Drivers: 18 driver units optimized for full-range reproduction
- Beamforming Technology: Advanced directivity control creates a sound field optimized for the listening position
- Active Room Compensation: Automatic correction function adapts to room acoustics
Launch Event
Both limited editions were unveiled at Bang & Olufsen’s new San Francisco Culture Store. This store is the world’s largest Bang & Olufsen showroom and one of three Culture Stores opening in California to commemorate the company’s centenary.
