Top Wing will release the “Sonic Corrector,” an active analog filter incorporating three types of filters for optimizing analog audio signals, on January 29, 2026. The price is ¥99,000 (tax included).

Product Overview

The Sonic Corrector is a signal processing filter that corrects various issues present in modern music sources at the analog signal stage. It optimizes the following types of sources for comfortable playback through audio systems:

  • Brickwall-limited sources: Recordings with excessively boosted sound pressure and compressed dynamic range
  • Pre-emphasis CDs: Early CDs recorded with high-frequency boost
  • Sources with high-frequency noise: Recordings containing unwanted high-frequency components

Design and Manufacturing

Top Wing handled the analog filter constant settings. The circuit artwork was developed by Marco Manunta, owner of the M2TECH brand.

The design pursues minimal sound quality degradation, employing high-performance components including state-of-the-art op-amps. Manufacturing is conducted in Japan.

The “Brickwall Waveform” Issue

“Brickwall waveform” is a colloquial term referring to audio waveforms that appear as solid black rectangles when viewed in waveform editing software—resembling a wall. This phenomenon emerged prominently from the late 1990s as a result of the “Loudness Wars,” where sound pressure competition sacrificed listening comfort.

Such sources may initially appear powerful and impactful due to their high sound pressure, but they often induce fatigue during extended listening sessions and compromise the music’s original artistic expression.

Difference from Digital Processing

While source correction is possible in the digital domain, analog-stage processing offers unique advantages. The Sonic Corrector claims to achieve natural-sounding improvements that are difficult to replicate through digital processing by directly processing the analog signal.
