Hong Kong-based DSP audio equipment manufacturer miniDSP has announced the “Tide16,” a 16-channel output AV processor. This ambitious product supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X while including Dirac Live room correction licenses as standard.

Product Overview

The Tide16 brings miniDSP’s accumulated DSP technology and room correction expertise together in a full-fledged home theater processor. With 16 XLR balanced outputs, the unit accommodates large-scale Atmos systems such as 7.2.6 or 9.2.4 configurations.

  • Dolby TrueHD: Lossless audio codec
  • DTS:X: Object-based audio
  • DTS HD Master Audio: Lossless audio codec
  • Dolby Atmos Height Virtualisation: Height reproduction without ceiling speakers
  • Dolby Atmos Music: Atmos for music content

Dirac Live Standard Inclusion

A major feature of the Tide16 is that full Dirac Live licenses are included as standard. All three of the following licenses are bundled:

Dirac Live Room Correction (RC)

The basic function that corrects frequency response based on measurements, solving room acoustic problems.

Dirac Live Bass Control (BC)

Optimizes integration between multiple subwoofers and main speakers. Reduces interference and standing wave issues caused by subwoofer placement.

Dirac Live ART (Active Room Treatment)

Active room processing addresses low-frequency problems that physical acoustic treatment materials struggle to handle. Enables more precise sound field correction.

Normally, purchasing these licenses individually costs several hundred dollars, but they’re included in the Tide16’s price.

DSP Functions

Matrix Mixer

Input sources can be routed to any output channels. Accommodates complex speaker configurations and custom systems.

Advanced Bass Management

Enables detailed low-frequency management including crossover settings, subwoofer integration, and per-channel delay/gain adjustment.

Parametric EQ

Each channel features parametric equalizers for detailed frequency adjustment.

Audiophile-Grade Analog Circuits

miniDSP emphasizes “audiophile-grade analog circuits,” publishing excellent measurements including SNR 127dB and THD+N -118dB (0.0001%). The company aims for quality suitable not only for home theater use but also for 2-channel pure audio systems.

Installation

Equipped with removable rack ears, the unit accommodates both 19-inch rack mounting and shelf placement. The color OLED display provides visual confirmation of connection status and operating modes.
