Technical Audio Devices Laboratories (TADL) has announced the new TAD-E1AX floor-standing speaker system from its Evolution series. As the successor to the popular TAD-E1TX, it has evolved further by incorporating technology cultivated in higher-end models.

Revamped Proprietary CST Driver

The most significant feature of the TAD-E1AX is its revamped proprietary CST (Coherent Source Transducer) driver, which has a coaxial midrange and tweeter. The tweeter diaphragm is made of beryllium, which is synonymous with TAD. The 2.5cm diaphragm, manufactured using TAD’s proprietary vapor deposition process, enables ultra-wideband reproduction up to 60kHz.

The 9cm midrange diaphragm is made of a magnesium alloy that is both lightweight and has high internal loss. Anodizing and coating further enhance its hardness and loss properties, resulting in clear, distortion-free midrange reproduction.

Rich and Natural Low-Frequency Reproduction

The low frequencies are handled by two 16cm MACC (Multi-layered Aramid Composite Cone) woofers. By reviewing the diaphragm material and structure, it achieves both rich, clear bass and uncolored, honest mid-low frequency reproduction capabilities.

Robust Enclosure that Suppresses Vibration

The enclosure is a SILENT (Structurally Inert Laminated Enclosure Technology) enclosure that combines a sturdy birch plywood frame with high-internal-loss MDF panels. It also features AFAST (Acoustic-Filter-Assisted System Tuning) technology, which effectively suppresses standing waves inside the enclosure.

It also inherits the Bidirectional ADP (Aero-Dynamic Port) system, which places the bass reflex port on the bottom surface and directs the opening to the front and rear to reduce port noise.

Pricing and Availability
