American high-end speaker brand Wilson Audio has announced the ‘Acoustic Diode,’ a new spike system based on a new theory, as the result of years of research and development. It aims to maximize the inherent performance of equipment by effectively dissipating unwanted vibrational energy from speakers and audio components.
A New Approach to Vibration Management
The Acoustic Diode is built around Wilson Audio’s proprietary composite material, ‘V-Material.’ V-Material boasts excellent vibration absorption and damping properties and is also used in the company’s speakers.
This system functions as an ‘acoustic diode,’ transmitting minute vibrations generated by the component in only one direction and preventing external vibrations from flowing back into the component. This is said to dramatically lower the noise floor, resulting in an expanded dynamic range, improved detail reproduction, and a more natural musical expression.
For Both Speakers and Components
The Acoustic Diode can be used with a variety of components, including Wilson Audio’s speakers, as well as speakers from other manufacturers, amplifiers, and source equipment. By solidifying the foundation of the equipment, it has the potential to dramatically improve the sound quality of the entire system.
While details such as release date and pricing are yet to be announced, this is the debut of an important accessory that cannot be overlooked in the pursuit of audio system sound quality.
