TEAC Corporation has announced the NT-507T network streaming transport as a new addition to its “Reference 500” series, which delivers authentic Hi-Fi sound in a compact chassis. The price is $2,499.
A “Transport” to Leverage High-Quality DACs
The NT-507T is targeted at users who already own a high-performance USB-DAC they favor. By intentionally omitting an internal DAC and touchscreen, it eliminates potential sources of noise from internal interference. It is dedicated to standing between the network music source and the USB-DAC, delivering the cleanest and most accurate digital signal possible.
Thorough Noise-Canceling Power Supply and Chassis Design
The power supply, crucial for sound quality, features a large toroidal transformer with four windings to supply power independently to each section. Instead of a noisy switching power supply, it uses discrete DC regulators to achieve a clean power supply.
The chassis incorporates thorough vibration control measures, including a 2.8mm thick aluminum top panel with a semi-floating structure to suppress vibrations, and proprietary isolation feet to enhance sound clarity.
Versatile Network Functions and Connectivity
- Network Input: In addition to a standard RJ45 Ethernet port, it is equipped with an SFP optical input port that enables galvanic isolation via optical fiber.
- Wireless: Supports Wi-Fi 6.
- USB Output: Supports output up to PCM 768kHz/32bit and DSD 22.5MHz.
- USB Storage Support: Equipped with two USB ports, allowing it to function as a music server by connecting USB memory or an external HDD/SSD.
- Streaming Support: In addition to being Roon Ready, it supports major streaming platforms such as TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, and Qobuz.
The NT-507T will be a noteworthy option for audiophiles who prioritize the separation of system components and a clean signal path over convenience.
