On November 10, 2025, Focal announced the Mu-so Hekla in Seoul, South Korea, a new wireless speaker system developed in collaboration with Naim Audio. Named after Iceland’s Hekla volcano, this system represents the first collaborative model integrating Focal’s acoustic design with Naim’s digital amplification technology, creating an ambitious product that blurs the line between home cinema and Hi-Fi audio.

French Acoustic Design × British Digital Technology

Mu-so Hekla is the latest in the Mu-so series and the first to prominently feature the Focal brand name. While previous Mu-so series products were marketed under the Naim Audio brand, Focal’s leadership in this release means the company’s extensive speaker design expertise is fully invested.

At the system’s core are 15 speaker drivers and 660W of Class D amplification. With output capable of handling spaces up to 40㎡, the system reproduces three-dimensional soundscapes through Dolby Atmos technology. Focal claims to “bring cinematic scale to living spaces,” achieving “breathtaking spatial audio” for all content including movies, music, and gaming.

The enclosure is constructed from anodized aluminum and covered with a perforated metal grille. Focal describes this design as “a fusion of refinement and raw output,” likening it to the natural power of a volcano.

Intelligent Room Adaptation

One of Mu-so Hekla’s distinctive features is its proprietary room calibration technology. It automatically adjusts acoustic balance according to the installation environment, embodying the design philosophy of “Excellence Made Simple.”

Connectivity is comprehensive. The system includes HDMI eARC, optical digital (TOSLINK), RCA inputs, and a subwoofer output. It can function as a home theater when placed under a TV while also serving as a standalone music playback system.

Wireless connectivity supports AirPlay, Google Cast, and Bluetooth. Network connection is available via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Control options include the Focal & Naim app, voice assistants, smartwatches, and home automation systems.

Pricing and Availability

Mu-so Hekla is priced at €3,300 | US\$3,600 | £3,000. As of November 2025, it has launched first in Korea and China, with global rollout scheduled for Q1 2026.

According to Focal, demonstrations are confirmed for CES 2026 (Las Vegas) and ISE 2026 (Barcelona), providing opportunities to experience the system firsthand. Sales will be conducted through the Focal Powered by Naim authorized dealer network.
