Dutch high-end audio manufacturer Mola Mola has unveiled the “Ossetra,” a new monaural power amplifier that packs a powerful punch in the company’s distinctive half-size chassis. It features their proprietary Class-D amplification technology, “Trajectum,” and delivers 350W of power into 8Ω.
Proprietary Class-D Technology “Trajectum”
The Ossetra employs what Mola Mola calls “discrete Class-D” technology, “Trajectum.” This technology aims to maintain the high efficiency of Class-D while minimizing noise and distortion to the utmost limit. It achieves this by having a specially designed Class-A stage handle most of the gain, combined with a full-bridge output stage with a wide-bandwidth feedback loop.
High Power in a Compact Chassis
The Ossetra delivers a powerful 350W (8Ω) while adopting the same compact 20cm-wide chassis as the company’s Makua preamp and Kula integrated amplifier. In its design, the power supply has been revamped to enhance EMI (electromagnetic interference) performance far beyond regulatory limits, while also reducing noise and improving both dynamic and continuous output capabilities.
The input stage employs a DC-coupling method without capacitors in the signal path, thereby eliminating the influence of capacitors on sound quality. Additionally, new shunt voltage regulators placed near the input stage contribute to further sound quality improvements by enhancing noise rejection and keeping AC currents local to the load.
