American high-end speaker brand MartinLogan has announced its new high-performance subwoofer series, the ‘Grotto Series’. The series consists of two models: the ‘Grotto 12’ with a 12-inch driver and the ‘Grotto 15’ with a 15-inch driver.
Hybrid Woofer System
The most significant feature of the Grotto Series is its hybrid configuration, which combines an active aluminum woofer with dual aluminum passive radiators. This design achieves the high output and low distortion of a ported enclosure while maintaining the tight bass response and compact size of a sealed enclosure.
Powerful Amplifier and Advanced DSP
At its core is the ‘Magnitude MT-2kW’ amplifier, which boasts a maximum output of 2000W (1000W RMS). Additionally, a 500MHz/64-bit advanced DSP engine provides excellent fidelity and control.
Key Features
- Reinforced Cabinet: A sealed cabinet made of 1-inch thick MDF with center braces and a reinforced woofer baffle supports accurate bass reproduction.
- Versatile Connectivity: Supports RCA and XLR LFE inputs, stereo RCA inputs, and speaker-level inputs. A wireless receiver and transmitter are also built-in.
- Anthem Room Correction (ARC®): Compatible with the renowned room correction technology ‘ARC’. It optimizes the bass to the room’s acoustic characteristics to bring out the ideal performance.
- Dedicated App: The ‘MartinLogan Subwoofer Control App’ for iOS and Android allows for detailed settings from a smartphone.
The Grotto Series is a noteworthy new product that delivers powerful and musical bass reproduction in any audio system or home theater environment, including, of course, in combination with MartinLogan’s renowned electrostatic speakers.
