Audio-Technica Corporation has completely revamped its core MC (moving coil) cartridge series, the ‘AT33’ series, and has announced three new models as the new ‘AT33X’ series.
A Fusion of Tradition and Innovation
Since its introduction in 1986, the AT33 series has been supported by analog audio fans around the world for its excellent cost performance and musicality. The new AT33X series inherits that tradition while being developed with the latest technology and materials.
Three New Models
- AT33X/OCC: The basic model of the series. It uses a PCOCC (single-crystal high-purity oxygen-free copper) coil to achieve a pure and straight sound.
- AT33X/ML: Uses a Microlinear (ML) stylus. It accurately traces even the deepest parts of the record groove, boasting excellent high-frequency characteristics and low distortion.
- AT33X/SL: The top model of the series, featuring a special line contact (SL) stylus and a solid boron cantilever. It pursues the ultimate in resolution and dynamic range.
Key Improvements
- Newly Designed Magnetic Circuit: The permendur magnetic circuit has been optimized to improve power generation efficiency.
- High-Rigidity Body: A hybrid body combining different materials effectively suppresses unwanted resonance.
- Increased Gold Plating Thickness on Terminal Pins: Reduces contact resistance and prevents sound quality degradation.
The Audio-Technica AT33X series has the potential to become a new standard for cartridges that will allow you to rediscover the charm of analog records.
